The Pharmacy Department at Bart’s Health covers a population of 2.5 million. We provide clinical pharmacy, medicines management and medicines optimisation services from our four hospital sites across the City of London and East London.
We are looking for a confident, forward thinking pharmacist to work as a key member of our Pharmacy Dispensary Team at Royal London Hospital. We are looking for someone with excellent leadership qualities who can motivate staff and work in conjunction with our fantastic technical team to manage and develop our dispensary service at the Royal London Hospital Site.
As the inpatient pharmacy team, we are responsible for providing quality care to patients in wards/clinical areas well as in our inpatient pharmacy dispensary/stores. We do this through close working with the ward based multidisciplinary teams ensuring effective communication between our ward-based pharmacists/pharmacy technicians and nursing staff, doctors and other MDT members providing accurate and efficient supply of medications from inpatient pharmacy in addition to supporting with aspects of medication governance
You will be part of the senior pharmacy technician operational management team to assist with managing workflow, meeting KPIs and line management responsibilities to ensure the smooth running of the dispensary and be a role model within the operational team.
The Post Holder Will Be Expected To
The post holder will carry out the full range of duties as the pharmacist within the dispensary service to deliver patient focused, quality care, at the Royal London Hospital.
- To assist in the provision of a high quality patient focused dispensing service to patients.
- To provide clinical and professional leadership to all dispensary staff.
- To ensure the supervision, training and development of the pre-registration and junior pharmacists.
- To ensure that dispensary practice is in line with local and national guidelines, and all relevant legislation.
- To ensure that dispensary practice supports prevailing financial controls.
- To ensure the safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of medicines
- To provide clinical pharmacy services to the inpatient dispensary and wards in line with Trust procedures and national legislation.
- To assist with the management of the pharmacy out of hours rotas including the late duty and on-call service
The post holder will work closely with the Deputy Head of Pharmacy and the Site Lead Pharmacy Technician (SLPT).
