The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UK with clinical care and services spanning across three hospitals (Leicester Royal Infirmary, Glenfield Hospital and Leicester General Hospital), with a pharmacy department at each site.
We have an established electronic prescribing system in place across most wards and have automated systems in our dispensaries and some clinical areas. Both the Trust and the pharmacy department embrace innovation and we welcome ambitious members to join our dynamic team.
We provide a comprehensive induction and training period to train you to provide an effective clinical pharmacy service. You will be expected to work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team including established medical, nursing and pharmacy teams to proactively undertake medicines reconciliation, review prescribing, medicines optimisation and clinically screen discharge prescriptions.
You will have the opportunity to enhance your clinical skills through ward based training, ward based assessments and clinical teaching seminars. Optimal patient care will be your priority and you will aim to ensure timely, effective and safe pharmaceutical care is consistently provided.
Our team is made up of more than 17,000 staff providing a range of services primarily for the one million residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
We work with partners at the University of Leicester and De Montfort University providing world-class teaching to nurture and develop the next generation of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals, many of whom go on to spend their working lives with us.
