An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and proactive pharmacist to work within our clinical team where patient experience and safety is at the heart of everything we do.

The role will allow you to utilise and develop your skills in pharmaceutical care within the field of women and children health. You will also be working as a senior pharmacist within our pharmacy department, and to play an active part in clinical training and line-management.

What key roles will I be playing?

1) Providing clinical pharmacy services at ward level (at Bedford site) ensuring medicines are used appropriately, safely, and cost-effectively in accordance with Trust policy and medicine legislation.

2) Assisting the Trust in achieving Local and National targets, priorities and initiatives within the clinical sector, including targets from NSF, CQC, NPSA and CQUINs as appropriate

3) Encouraging and undertaking Risk Management and Clinical Incident reporting and investigating within the clinical areas.

4) Training, supervising and monitoring the performance of rotational pharmacists and other pharmacy staff working within the clinical areas, and assess and evaluate learning outcomes of junior pharmacy staff completing training modules.

5) Acting as a tutor in specialist areas and participate in the education and training of nursing staff, medical staff and other health care professionals as appropriate in conjunction with the Education and Training Manager.

What about the department I will join?

At our Bedford site, we have completed a Pharmacy Transformation Programme to include refurbishment of the department and adoption of the latest technology to include a Chemotherapy EPMA system, automated robotic and controlled drug dispensing and e-Rostering. Clinically you will be supported by mobile technology and electronic systems for pharmacy handover, patient prioritisation and triaging, medicine reconciliation and discharge processing.

You must possess the vision, energy, enthusiasm and influencing skills to deliver the safest possible care to our patients. The ability to engage, motivate and work in close collaboration with medical, nursing, pharmacy and General Manager colleagues will be essential.

You will also participate in late night, weekend and bank holiday rotas.
