WHEN IT MATTERS
As the Principal Pharmacist you will be the responsible pharmacist for HMP Belmarsh and HMP Thameside. You will lead on updating pharmacy policies and processes, and you will ensure that changes are relayed to the wider team in a monthly medicines management meeting. You will be responsible for the pharmacy team made up of Pharmacy manager, pharmacist, pharmacy techs and pharmacy assistants.
You will ensure that all staff are trained in pharmacy processes and all things meds management. You will also manage the PGD process and ensure these are regularly updated. You will manage the stock management and wholesale processes.
Practice Plus Group were recently awarded the healthcare contract at HMP Belmarsh and Thameside and will begin delivering services in June 2023. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.
You will be a qualified Registered Pharmacist- BSc or Master’s Degree in Pharmacy, holding registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council. You will have a real passion for developing your Pharmaceutical skills and those of your team. You’ll have a flexible approach to working within a team that encourages new ideas.

You’ll receive an annual salary up to £59,000 per annum - dependent on experience. We offer a whole host of additional benefits such as: cycle to work scheme, free uniform, an extensive training and development structure for all employees along with an employee recognition scheme.

HMP Belmarsh is a Category A men’s prison with an operational capacity of over 910 inmates and is located in South East London. HM Prison Thamesideis a local Category B resettlement prison as is based in the Thamesmead area of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, South-East London. Both HMP’s Belmarsh and Thameside are located next to each other, and are only a short (2 minute) walk away, making the ability to work across both of the sites an effective opportunity for this role.
