The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the largest provider of elective orthopaedic surgery in the UK and provides routine and specialist orthopaedic services. It is also the leading specialist centre for bone and soft tissue cancers and provides a regional spinal service.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the team in driving forward medicines management and clinical pharmacy projects within the Trust. This will involve conducting multi-disciplinary ward rounds, contributing to the development of new medicines management and clinical guidelines, and providing support to deliver on national and regional quality indicators.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual, with good clinical skills who is keen and effective at implementing changes. We are looking for a Band 7 clinical pharmacist who has completed their clinical diploma or can work towards completing it.
The successful candidate will help develop the pharmacy service in line with the aspirations of the pharmacy department, the Division and the Trust.
The post holder will be working as part of a team of clinical pharmacists to work on wards and in theatres to deliver high quality evidence-based pharmaceutical services.
The post holderwill be expected to help develop and implement:
- processes of pharmacy service delivery and clinical governance
- The Medicine Code - including undertaking audits to fulfil governance and contractual requirements.
- Integration of technology into the delivery of clinical pharmacy services to the ward teams
One of the key objectives of the role will be to help deliver the Discharge Medicines Service (DMS) initiative at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This shall help to establish partnerships with external organisations to facilitate better communication between colleagues in primary care and secondary care to reduce the risk of harm and improve patient experience.
The position will also involve supporting the delivery of action plans relating to safety alerts and the teaching of Medicines Management to medical, nursing, pharmacy and other health care workers in the Trust by working with senior pharmacists. The post holder will also have a clinical commitment which includes on-calls and weekend cover.
