The Royal Hospital for Children & Young People is co-located with provision of an integrated pharmacy service with the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The Royal Hospital for Children & Young People is a dedicated children’s teaching hospital that provides general and specialist paediatric services at local, regional and national level and is one of three Principle Treatment Centres for children & young people with cancer in Scotland mainly serving patients from Lothian, Fife, Borders and Tayside (via shared care).

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic and forward thinking pharmacists to join the pharmacy team delivering the highest quality pharmacy services to children and young people with cancer based within the Royal Hospital for Sick Children. The post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of the clinical pharmacy service in the face of emerging challenges around delivery of clinical trials as per requirements of Good Clinical Practice and paediatric chemotherapy electronic prescribing and administration system utilising Paediatric ChemoCare®. The post holder will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team; where pharmacists have an established role ensuring the safe delivery of systemic-anticancer therapy.

Candidates must have a Master of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent, must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), and should have completed or be working towards completion of the Post-Registration Foundation Programme or equivalent competency.

Ideally, candidates will have experience pro-actively influencing prescribing within a secondary care environment, and will have gained experience working in a patient focussed environment using their knowledge and skills to improve patient care and promote optimal outcomes from medicines. Experience in paediatrics, clinical trials or haematology oncology is advantageous but not essential. Full training and support will be provided.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
