An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our expanding pharmacy team, to lead new mental health clinical pharmacy services across our community teams as part of our mental health services. This role will lead a pharmacy team within BCUHB West to develop and improve the community mental health pharmacy teams across adult and older adult mental health services. This role is a great opportunity to individualise and develop the service. You should be patient focused and proactive in developing and using your clinical skills and knowledge to improve care through the delivery of efficient medicines optimisation to reduce inequalities and improve care of mental health patients in the community. Applicants need to be able to work well both within the pharmacy and wider community mental health teams but also be able to practice autonomously, undertaking individual patient assessments and consultations as required. Experience of working within community mental health teams is desirable but not essential and applicants should be or be willing to work towards independent prescriber within a mental health speciality. The base will be split between the main YG site and other community mental health bases in BCUHB West.
Job Summary/Job Purpose:
- Lead a safe and effective specialist clinical pharmacy service in allocated area in community mental health settings
- Undertake professional and clinical pharmacist’s duties
- Work within the scope of practice
- Provides expert pharmaceutical advice and support within both primary and secondary care services as required
- Develop policies, protocols and guidelines within allocated area.
- Work in partnership with service users, other health and social care colleagues, to achieve the optimum health outcome for service users
- Input into multidisciplinary team meetings within psychiatry
- Provide specialist advice and support to health care professionals in community mental health teams and primary care to improve medicines optimisation in mental heath

Clinical Pharmacy services: provide an advanced pharmacy service in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies
Human resources: undertake individual appraisals for appropriate staff within the allocated area and develop learning needs against a personal development plan with them.
Education, training, research and development: assist in the delivery of pharmaceutical education relating to medicines management for healthcare professionals and other working in health and social care.
Finance and performance: monitor cost of medicines used in area of responsibility and identifies more cost effective treatment when appropriate
Medicines information: Support BCU medicines information service in provision of specialist mental health pharmacy advice when requested
