Job Title: Pharmacy Porter

Division: Unplanned & Integrated Care

Band: 2

Salary: £22,383 per annum/pro rata

Interview Date: Monday 26th June 2023

Weekday hours to be confirmed in line with service needs. (Usually 9:00 to 17:30)

Weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis, (hours to be confirmed in line with service needs).

We are recruiting for aPharmacy Porterwho shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

To undertake general supply, distribution and inventory management duties within the Pharmacy to meet the needs and expectations of our service users

To deliver medication to the wards in a safe and timely manner.

To support and assist all members of the Pharmacy team.

And other duties that required for the smooth running of the Pharmacy Distribution in line with SOPS

The successful applicant(s) will be required to work towards a Level 2 in Pharmacy services. Full support will be given for this.

Prioritise work to deliver an efficient service

Participate in the supply of stock medication via the ward top up service. Liaise with relevant ward Pharmacists and ward staff to provide an effective and efficient service.

Return any surplus or unused drugs following departmental standard operating procedures

Assist in the delivery of stock & dispensed items to the wards and departments

Ensure the correct storage of the medication and ensure good stock rotation and monitor and check for expiry dates

Ensure that any to-follow or out of stock issues are promptly and accurately reported to both the procurement and distribution managers

Ensure that any to follow items are sent as soon as possible and any discrepancies checked.

Maintain good customer services at all times.

To ensure delivery of ward stock items to the wards in a safe and timely manner.

To assist Dispensary porter on delivery of prescription items to the wards in a safe and timely manner

To prepare the ward and departments bags ready for delivery

Deliver pouches containing medicines to clinical areas and ensure that any prescription sheets collected from the wards are promptly delivered to the dispensary.

If delivering controlled drugs ensure that they are personally handed to a registered nurse and signed for.

Maintain and use of the electronic Tracker system

To assist in the delivery of urgent medication to the wards on an ad-hoc bases.

To ensure that all medication delivered is signed for by an appropriate member of staff.

Effectively and safely use the available methods for moving and handling products, e.g. the pallet truck and trolleys.

To collect empty ward/department/theatre Pharmacy stock containers and return them to Pharmacy
